On March 15, 2016 CMS announced the payment rates for seven product categories in 90 Competitive Bidding Areas throughout the country.  In addition, CMS also announced the payment rates for the National Mail Order Program for Diabetic Supplies.  CMS will begin offering contracts to suppliers who submitted bids and CMS will announce the list of suppliers this spring.  The new contracts will go into effect July 1, 2016.

The National Mail Order Program for Diabetic Supplies sets the Single Price Amount for glucose test strips and the other testing supplies diabetic patients use regularly.  All eight items in the program saw a reduction in reimbursement amounts with test strips dropping from $10.41 a box to $8.32.
