Earlier today, Applied Policy staff visited the Child & Family Network Centers on Wheeler Avenue in Alexandria to read books and visit with the children. Applied Policy is excited to sponsor one of the classrooms at CFNC this school year.
CFNC provides free preschool to 4 year-olds living in the City of Alexandria in order to make sure the children are adequately prepared for kindergarten. CFNC helps to fill the gap for families who do not qualify got Head Start services but do not have the resources to attend a private preschool. Additionally, CFNC provides social work support for the child’s family and healthcare services to make sure the child has health care coverage and a network of providers accessible. CFNC operates eight classrooms around the city and serves anywhere from 130 – 200 students in a year.
